Nelson Watercolours FAQs

Here you will find the answers, we hope, to the sort of questions we are often asked about Ian's prints, cards and Original Paintings.

Should you have a question that has not been previously answered please do

  • Ian does not display his work at his home and therefore his originals can only be seen in two places: Stepping Stones down Little Loch Broom lochside at Aida's Corriehallie - well worth a visit for many reasons, never mind the location, and Loch Carron Craft & Gallery (and Restaurant) which is located not far down the road from the level crossing at Strathcarron.

His prints are also available at both places and also at the Restaurant at Inverewe Gardens. If you are visiting out of the main season I would suggest you check first whether these establishments are open before making a special journey.

Ian's cards are to be found in many other local craft shops

  • Ian prefers not to attempt to send originals by any means - many carriers refuse to offer compensation for glass items - so it does become a major problem to find the appropriate packaging - but early in the year it may be possible to have originals sent you before they are framed - if you ask.

Non-mounted prints can be sent in postal tubes and are invariably included in the price.

Mounted prints need more substantial packaging and may require addtional cost.

  • This website uses PayPal for all payments. So when you get to the checkout you will go through to PayPal who may try to make you 'join', but it is not obligatory and you can pay in the normal way - by entering your CC details. If however your purchases are as a result of negotiations then you can send payments to Ian via PayPal and we can send you a request/invoice via PayPal, so it is very flexible for the kind of business that we operate!
  • Preferably do not ask. Ian find that this presents him with the enormous dilemma of trying to meet your expectations - however if you want to send him a photograph of the view you feel would suit his style - we can only ask!!
  • As the season gets under way around about Easter, Ian normally has the most new paintings available at this time. BUT both Aida and Carron Pottery & Gallery always want more than he has managed to produce, so Ian is invariably reluctant to sell these direct to his fans. Quite silly, but he feels better if he has taken as many as possible to these two outlets.

Over the years he has nonetheless sold a number of paintings before they have even been framed - which is the best way to get them to you - and we do this by giving you a link to a page on the website with copies of the originals on there - this is only applicable for a very brief time because he is probably rushing to get them framed.
